Tadano Unveils New AC 3.060-2 All-Terrain Mobile Crane for Tight Spaces

The compact, three-axle model for the U.S. has a 164-foot main boom, with extensions up to 52.5 feet available.

Japanese manufacturer Tadano is expanding its all-terrain mobile crane lineup with the compact, three-axle AC 3.060-2.

Equipped with a 164-foot main boom and 28,700-pound counterweight, Tadano markets the AC 3.060-2 crane as excelling in steep boom positions. Operators can move up to 12,800 pounds at a 59-foot working radius. With the boom's 52.5-foot extension angled at 20 degrees, the AC 3.060-2 can lift 3,500 pounds with full counterweight at 92 feet, a feat Tadano says makes the crane best in class.

Operators can reach a maximum system length of 216.5 feet and a 15,040-pound single line pull, but with triple reeving on the single-sheave hook block, that number jumps to 44,100 pounds. This means the AC 3.060-2 can lift heavier loads with a smaller hook block, according to Tadano.

With a clearance height of 12 feet 4 inches, a width of 8 feet 4 inches and a carrier length of 31 feet 2 inches, the AC 3.060-2 is best suited for tight jobsites like concrete work, unloading jobs, hall construction or prefabricated house construction, the company says. Maneuverability can be improved with the optional four-camera Tadano Surround View and a stepless outrigger positioning Flex Base to extend carrying lengths.

Operators will have greater flexibility to run one-person operations without additional transport; the AC 3.060-2 can be driven on the road with its 26,500-pound axle load limit with 16-inch tires, a 6 x 6 x 9 drivetrain, a 9,300-pound counterweight, the single-sheave hook block and a 660-pound payload.

The AC 3.060-2 also features a turning assistant for safer driving, the IC-1 Plus crane control system with capacity radar and underfloor positioning on the boom for safer reeving and easy extension setup.

"Its powerful performance with a steep boom angle should make it the first choice for lifting air conditioning units onto roofs over obstacles or for moving machinery with a jib in confined spaces — and the fact that it can often be operated by a single person makes it particularly economical in many cases," the company says.

The AC 3.060-2 is available to order in the Americas and Australia, and first deliveries are expected later this year.
