More Road, More Load: Michelin’s WorkXBib Targets Trailers That Spend Most of Their Life on Tarmac
Michelin's new WorkXBib trailer tyre carries up to 6,500 kg at 65 km/h and lasts up to 80% longer than previous Michelin trailer tyres. More Road, More Load: Michelin’s WorkXBib Targets Trailers That Spend Most of Their Life on Tarmac published on The HeavyQuip Magazine.

Trailers that move material between sites and fields now spend much of their working life on the road, often heavily loaded and at speed. Tyres designed mainly for soft ground wear quickly under that kind of use. Michelin’s new WorkXBib is its answer: a trailer tyre built for intensive road use that can still handle off-road work.
The tyre is aimed mainly at tipping trailers, slurry tankers, manure spreaders and similar equipment, but Michelin sees uses well beyond the farm. “Our latest fitment has a wide range of applications from public works and civil engineering through to haulage and livestock farming,” said Tom Saunders, Agricultural Beyond Road Customer Engineering Support Manager at Michelin.
Designed for heavy loads at speed
The WorkXBib supports loads of up to 6,500 kg at 65 km/h in its first size. A flat crown and reinforced, serrated shoulders give it a larger footprint and help stability on the road under heavy loads. The serrated shoulders also improve grip on sloping ground, while large tread blocks are designed to self-clean and reduce maintenance.
Durability comes from a steel-belted crown, a robust carcass and bead area, and a high-performance rubber compound for better puncture resistance. Michelin says the result is up to 80% longer life than its previous-generation trailer tyres, based on customer testing in France, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy on trailers and slurry tankers used mainly on the road.
It complements the TrailXBib, which uses Michelin’s Ultraflex technology for low soil compaction and remains the choice for field-focused work.
What it means for operators
For contractors and fleet owners, longer tyre life translates into fewer stops for replacement, higher equipment availability and more predictable operating costs.
The tyre is being rolled out progressively in the replacement market. The first size, 600/55 R26.5, is available from October 2026. Three more sizes follow in the second quarter of 2027: 650/55 R26.5, 600/60 R30.5 and 560/60 R22.5.
