Volvo CE and PT Indotruck Utama collaborate on Indonesia’s first L25 Electric Wheel Loader trial
In a significant step toward sustainable operations, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), in collaboration with its local dealer, PT Indotruck Utama (ITU), initiated the first trial of the L25 electric compact wheel loader in Indonesia. www.volvoce.comThe L25 Electric on-site during the trial The trial commenced on August 28, 2024, at a site operated by an Indonesian customer in Central Kalimantan. The two-month trial concluded on October 28, 2024, and is part of a broader initiative to introduce environmentally friendly solutions to industries across the region. The customer, known for its commitment to sustainable development, welcomed the opportunity to explore the potential of electric machinery in their operations. The Volvo L25 Electric wheel loader represents the first model in a new line of electric compact wheel loaders. It seamlessly integrates Volvo’s trusted compact wheel loader platform with advanced battery technology, delivering exceptional performance, zero tailpipe emissions, and ultra-quiet operation. Customer and operator feedback Feedback from both the customer and the machine operator has been overwhelmingly positive. Vincent Santoso, Sales and Marketing Director at PT Indotruck Utama said: “The L25 Electric is a multipurpose machine that has proven capable of effectively substituting conventional equipment. It’s quiet operation and no carbon-emitting nature has been particularly beneficial for operations within enclosed areas. It’s 4 to 6 hours autonomy provides uninterrupted operations, allowing intermittent charging during breaks and shift changes.” Operator feedback also highlighted the machine’s ease of maintenance and versatility, praising its compatibility with multiple attachments such as buckets, forks, and quick couplers. The absence of major technical issues during the trial further underscored the machine’s reliability. In addition, ITU also helped ensure seamless operations by assigning a standby mechanic, to the site throughout the trial period. Looking Ahead With the success of the current trial, Volvo CE and ITU plan to conduct additional trials in East Kalimantan and Bangka Island in Q1 2025. These efforts reflect Volvo CE’s ongoing dedication to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions tailored to the unique needs of its customers in Indonesia. The L25 electric wheel loader trial signifies a pivotal moment for Indonesia’s heavy equipment industry, showcasing the transformative potential of sustainable technology in real-world applications. Raven Chua, Head of Market West for Region Asia, Volvo CE commented: “This collaboration with PT Indotruck Utama demonstrates our shared commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation. The L25 electric wheel loader not only reduces carbon emissions but also enhances operational efficiency and safety. By combining cutting-edge battery technology with Volvo’s proven engineering, the L25 Electric addresses the urgent need for solutions that balance productivity with environmental responsibility. This trial is testament to how collaborating with our partners can help us build a more sustainable future.” www.volvoce.com Powered by Induportals Media Publishing
