Steelwrist Expands Connecticut Operations to Strengthen North American Supply

Steelwrist is expanding operations at its North American headquarters in Newington, Connecticut, increasing capacity to support its U.S. market activities. The Swedish manufacturer of tiltrotators, automatic quick couplers and excavator work tools said the investment will strengthen local assembly and logistics, positioning Connecticut as a strategic hub for its North American operations.

Since entering the North American market in 2017, Steelwrist has recorded strong growth as more contractors adopt tiltrotators and fully automatic quick coupler systems to boost safety, productivity and machine utilisation. Connecticut has played a central role in this growth journey because of its strategic location in the Northeast, which provides access to key markets, ports and transportation infrastructure across the United States and Canada. The state also offers a highly skilled and experienced workforce, particularly within advanced manufacturing and precision assembly.

The Connecticut facility serves as Steelwrist’s North American headquarters, bringing warehousing, technical support and training together with expanded machining, manufacturing and assembly operations under one roof. The upgrade adds machining capacity, local assembly and product testing, allowing more units to be assembled and tested in the United States. The move strengthens Steelwrist’s North American footprint and supports faster deliveries, greater flexibility and improved product availability for customers.

The expanded Newington facility was officially inaugurated on February 19 with a ceremony attended by Steelwrist leadership, including CEO Stefan Stockhaus, alongside representatives from the State of Connecticut and local partners.

“With the expansion of our operations in Newington we will now be able to support our growing customer base in North America while ensuring that products are assembled and tested here in the U.S. This investment reflects both our confidence in the market and our long-term commitment to growth in the region.”

Says Stefan Stockhaus, Steelwrist CEO.

“Steelwrist’s decision in 2017 to establish its North American headquarters in Connecticut—and to expand that presence today—speaks volumes about the strength of our state’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem. This expansion not only reinforces Connecticut’s reputation as a premier destination for manufacturers, but also solidifies our state’s role as a hub for companies serving customers across North America and beyond.”

Says John Bourdeaux, President & CEO of AdvanceCT, Connecticut’s nonprofit business development organisation.

By increasing assembly and testing capacity in Newington, Steelwrist can better align output with regional requirements and reduce lead times. Machines and attachments assembled at the site are configured for North American applications and supported by local technical expertise, improving responsiveness and service levels for customers across the continent.

The investment also supports the next phase of Steelwrist’s North American expansion, with the company leaning more heavily on its dealer network as a key route to market for sales, installation and after-sales support.
