Leica Geosystems, a Hexagon company, has launched a new safety technology at CONEXPO 2026 in Las Vegas. The Leica Xsight360 safety awareness solution, now available in the United States and Canada, expands the company’s safety awareness portfolio and includes dynamic 3D avoidance technology developed jointly with Xwatch Safety Solutions.
Leica Xsight360, shown at the Hexagon stand, uses edge-based AI and up to six onboard cameras to give operators a full 360-degree view around heavy equipment. The system detects people, vehicles and obstacles in real time, triggering audible and visual warnings to help prevent incidents. At the same time, operational and video data is sent to the cloud, where AI analytics produce safety dashboards, incident heatmaps and compliance reports, helping EHS teams turn field data into targeted, proactive safety actions.

Complementing Xsight360, Leica Geosystems and Xwatch Safety Solutions have jointly developed a dynamic 3D Avoidance Zone system that integrates with Leica MC1 machine control and has been in operational use since 2022. The system allows operators to create or import highly accurate three-dimensional exclusion zones, both above ground and below grade. As a machine nears a defined risk area such as overhead power lines, buried utilities, pedestrian routes, live traffic lanes or environmentally sensitive boundaries, the solution can intervene automatically. By controlling excavator hydraulics, it can slow movement or bring the machine to a stop, helping prevent accidental entry into hazardous zones.
At CONEXPO 2026, Leica Geosystems highlighted Xsight360 alongside its safety awareness portfolio, pairing on-machine detection and operator alerts with cloud-based reporting features aimed at EHS teams. The 3D Avoidance Zone capability adds an additional layer focused on restricting machine movement near defined hazard areas. Together, the two technologies reflect a wider shift in construction equipment toward safety systems that do more than warn, linking real-time awareness on the machine with the documentation and analytics contractors increasingly need to manage risk, support compliance, and standardise procedures across mixed fleets and busy jobsites.
