In Memory of Josh Kalven
The videographer who passed away this summer was a longtime collaborator of ours.
The videographer who passed away this summer was a longtime collaborator of ours.

This summer, Josh Kalven, a California-based digital media specialist with whom the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) had collaborated for more than 10 years, passed away after a brief battle with cancer. He was 45 and leaves behind a wife and son.
Josh had an impressive resume and produced digital content for many clients via his studio, Lone Pine Creative. AAM knew Josh, essentially, as a film director: Professionally curious, detailed and very good at his job. With his understanding of timing and visual appeal, Josh could convey the sometimes esoteric policy arguments we brought to him for translation into clear and concise video segments. He was full of good ideas, and always brought new and novel ones to the table when we were brainstorming our next project.
That said, Josh always understood the assignment. And his videos, no matter the topic, always helped AAM get to the heart of our positions, giving our communications products a professional gloss in an increasingly important medium. But while his products never missed, we will miss him. It’s a tragedy that Josh is gone so soon.
All of our Josh Kalven-produced videos can be found among our content on our YouTube page, but for posterity’s sake we’ve pulled a handful that we were especially pleased with and listed them below. If you ever watched an AAM video short on Buy America policy or on the need for more federal support for commercial shipbuilding and thought “that makes a lot of sense,” thank Josh Kalven. He did the hard part for us:
