Hamm introduces a complete digital package for asphalt construction and earthworks
Automated compaction, real-time data, connected machines, and enhanced construction-site safety. www.wirtgen-group.com Smart Compact Pro: automated compaction using real-time density With Smart Compact Pro, Hamm becomes the first manufacturer worldwide to integrate real-time density measurement directly into automated asphalt compaction. Using the new Realtime Density Scan sensor, density is calculated precisely in real time, even during static compaction. This enables contractors to achieve compaction targets more accurately, improve road longevity, and reduce costs associated with corrective work and drill core testing. The system is quick to calibrate using a conventional measuring probe and has already proven its value in practice. During an initial deployment, Josef Hebel GmbH compacted 21,000 m² of asphalt surface course using Smart Compact Pro, reporting immediate access to real-time density data and improved quality control on site. Automated target-value compaction in earthworks Hamm is also expanding its VA drum compactor portfolio with the new HC 130i C VA, complementing the existing HC 200i C VA and HC 250i C VA models. Equipped with Smart Compact and an infinitely variable amplitude, these machines enable automatic compaction to a defined target value in MN/m². The result is uniform, reliable compaction with fewer passes, lower fuel consumption, and reduced risk of over-compaction or jump operation—protecting both machine and operator while improving overall energy efficiency. Track Assist: digital support for roller operators The new Track Assist app for Android builds on the Smart Doc app and acts as a digital assistant for roller drivers. It visualizes key parameters such as double passes, real-time density, temperature limits, compaction value changes, reversing points, and jump operation. In future development stages, Track Assist will evolve into a full assistance system that continuously compares target compaction values with actual results on site. WPT Compacting: transparency for site managers In combination with Track Assist, WPT Compacting (Wirtgen Group Performance Tracker Compacting) supports monitoring, documentation, analysis, and reporting during and after compaction. Process and machine data—including real-time density from Smart Compact Pro—are transferred to the central construction-site and fleet management platform, the John Deere Operations Center, enabling clear visualization and data-driven decision-making. Communication between rollers, and between rollers and pavers, further enhances coordinated site operations. Track Assist and WPT Compacting will be available from spring 2026. Digital safety systems for collision prevention Safety remains a top priority in asphalt construction and earthworks. Hamm rollers equipped with the Easy Drive operating concept in the HC, HD+, HX, and HP series now feature interfaces for integrating collision-prevention systems, either ex works or as retrofit solutions. These systems detect people or machines nearby, warn operators in advance, and can automatically decelerate or stop the machine if required. Hamm will soon also offer a complete collision-prevention system directly from the factory. www.wirtgen-group.com Powered by Induportals Media Publishing
