Four R 9200 excavators and six PR 776 dozers support a new pit at Bengalon and higher production targets at Kintap

When a mining contractor opens a new pit and raises production targets at the same time, fleet capacity becomes the bottleneck. Indonesian mining services provider Darma Henwa has answered with ten new Liebherr machines, delivered in less than twelve months.

Liebherr Indonesia supplied four R 9200 excavators and six PR 776 dozers, three of which are Generation 8 models. The fleet is split between two sites in Kalimantan: Bengalon in East Kalimantan and Kintap in South Kalimantan.

Why the fleet grew

Darma Henwa, one of Indonesia’s leading integrated mining service providers, recently expanded its operations at Bengalon, where it now works an additional pit. At Kintap, production targets have increased. Both changes called for more machines.

Excavator deliveries ran from the third quarter of 2025 to the second quarter of 2026, with the last R 9200 reaching Bengalon in April. Liebherr now has 17 machines at Bengalon and four at Kintap.

The PR 776 appears to have earned its place on performance. According to Liebherr, the dozer did so well at Bengalon that Darma Henwa decided to add it at Kintap too.

What the contractor says

For a contract miner, fuel burn and availability translate directly into margin. Darma Henwa points to both.

“Since arriving on site, our R 9200 fleet has impressed us with its superior fuel efficiency and structural strength. Collectively, all of our Liebherr equipment on site plays a significant role in supporting our production plan at Bengalon for 2026.”

Said Arofik Anwar, operation manager for Darma Henwa at Bengalon mine.

That support is often the deciding factor in remote regions such as Kalimantan, where a large excavator waiting for a specialist can hold up an entire load-and-haul chain.

Kamige Sulistyo, sales manager for Liebherr Indonesia, described the order as a sign of the trust between the two companies.
