The world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies takes place from May 13 to 17, 2026. At the center of the showcase is the Volvo L90 Electric wheel loader, specifically designed for demanding recycling and waste handling applications. High-performance wheel loader for emission-sensitive environments The L90 Electric in the 15-ton class combines zero local emissions with high performance, making it ideal for indoor operations, recycling facilities and waste management centers, where air quality, noise reduction and sustainability are critical. Separate electric motors for traction and hydraulics ensure full power is available simultaneously for both systems. A transmission specifically developed for electric platforms enables fast response times and short cycle operations, such as loading, sorting and material handling. Charging options include DC fast charging up to 150 kW (full charge in approximately 70 minutes), mobile energy storage solutions, and overnight AC charging. Live demonstrations in the outdoor area As part of the VDMA demonstration area, real-world application scenarios will be showcased, with a focus on the efficient processing and utilization of biomass as a renewable resource. The Volvo EW240E MH, a purpose-built material handler, will be demonstrated alongside the L120 Electric. Designed specifically for material handling, the machine features a raised cab for optimal visibility, optimized boom and arm geometry, high stability, and precise hydraulics for demanding operations. Advanced camera systems and assistance features further support safe and efficient operation. Expanding the electric equipment portfolio With the L120 Electric, Volvo expands its range of electric wheel loaders for zero-emission applications. The machine delivers performance comparable to or exceeding that of diesel counterparts, while significantly reducing emissions and noise levels. Additional electric machines on display in the outdoor area include the EWR150 Electric and the compact L20 Electric wheel loader. These solutions focus on low- to zero-emission construction, particularly in underground and utility infrastructure projects, supported by innovative energy concepts and field-proven technologies. Electrification of waste logistics Volvo Trucks complements the exhibition with battery-electric vehicles designed for waste management logistics. These include the Volvo FM Low Entry Electric, developed specifically for urban waste collection, and the Volvo FM Electric 6x2 hook lift truck, presented in its latest generation making its debut in Germany at IFAT 2026.
