Jay Wood Industry (JWI), a leading pioneer in engineered, sustainable industrial packaging and pallet manufacturing in India, continues to strengthen its ISPM-15 heat-treatment infrastructure with IN-003 HT and IN-038 HT registrations, along with approval for the change of location of IN-707 HT to its advanced manufacturing facility at Kosamba, Gujarat.
Issued under the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage (DPPQ&S), Ministry of Agriculture, the ISPM-15 standard governs wood packaging materials used in international trade. These approvals strengthen JWI’s ability to provide heat-treated wooden pallets, crates, and dunnage in accordance with prescribed phytosanitary requirements, helping customers meet export compliance norms across the European Union, North America, and other global markets.
Enabling Reliable, Export-Ready Supply Chains
Global manufacturers rely on dependable industrial packaging to keep their products moving across borders. Consistent quality, scalable production capacity, and assured export compliance help optimise logistics costs, protect products in transit, and keep international shipments on schedule. Industry data underlines the value of getting packaging right. According to a major transport insurer, around 65% of cargo damage is linked to goods that are poorly packed or secured in containers.
A September 2026 guidance paper from the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) further notes that marking and documentation gaps, rather than pests, are the most common cause of ISPM-15 non-compliance, accounting for 82% of notifications in German export data from 2023 to September 2025. While the cargo itself is usually undamaged, such gaps can trigger detentions, emergency re-treatment, repacking and return freight. Packaging sourced from a registered heat-treatment provider helps exporters avoid these costs and keep shipments moving. JWI makes this possible through engineered, export-compliant pallet and packaging solutions backed by 33+ years of expertise, ISO-certified quality systems, India’s first EPAL license, PEFC-certified sustainable timber sourcing, advanced automated manufacturing, and 100% ISPM-15 compliance.
WithIN-003 HT and IN-038 HT already forming part of JWI’s heat-treatment infrastructure, and approval received for the change of location of IN-707 HT to Kosamba, Gujarat, JWI is further strengthening its dual-state operational footprint across Maharashtra and Gujarat. This enables manufacturers to move products safely, sustainably, compliantly, and on time across major export corridors including Mundra, Hazira, and Nhava Sheva (JNPT).
“For over 33 years, Jay Wood Industry has been driven by a single purpose: to eliminate packaging-related risk from global manufacturing and exports,” said Jay Shah, Managing Director & CEO of Jay Wood Industry. “In global trade, compliance is not a checkbox—it is a non-negotiable license to operate. With IN-003 HT and IN-038 HT, and now the approval for change of location of IN-707 HT to our Kosamba facility in Gujarat, we are strengthening our compliant manufacturing infrastructure and expanding our ability to support exporters with reliable, high-quality and internationally compliant wooden packaging solutions.”
Strategic Value to Exporters & Industrial Clusters
JWI’s expanding ISPM-15 compliant infrastructure delivers critical supply chain advantages to high-value export industries including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, FMCG, auto components, and heavy engineering. By supporting compliance with international phytosanitary norms, it empowers exporters to ship high-value cargo with confidence, helping safeguard shipments against customs detentions or foreign port rejections.
This assurance is especially valuable for Indian exporters. The European Union currently requires plant health checks on the wood packaging of at least 15% of consignments of specified commodities from India, including natural stone, ceramic tiles and aluminium sheets, under Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/288. In the United States, Customs and Border Protection assesses penalties for wood packaging violations generally based on the value of the goods shipped.
The Kosamba facility’s proximity to key Gujarat hubs allows JWI to serve industrial centres across Surat, Hazira, Vadodara, Vapi, and Ahmedabad, reducing lead times and inland transportation requirements. Together with its Maharashtra operations, this forms a dual-state, high-capacity network that combines multi-location manufacturing resilience to support large-scale, high-volume export requirements without operational delays.
A Heritage of Industry Firsts & Institutional Quality
The Kosamba expansion builds upon JWI’s 33+ year legacy of pioneering standards in the Indian industrial packaging sector. Built over three decades of technical expertise and engineering excellence, the company serves India’s top global exporters. Its established ISPM-15 heat-treatment registrations, IN-003 HT and IN-038 HT, support JWI’s compliant wooden packaging operations, while the approval received for the change of location of IN-707 HT to its Kosamba manufacturing facility in Gujarat further strengthens the company’s multi-location heat-treatment infrastructure.
JWI is India’s first EPAL license holder, awarded License IND-007, and the first company in India granted Level 2 self-control rights for EPAL packaging. It is also the first certified PEFC pallet manufacturer, having pioneered 100% sustainably sourced timber pallets in India, backed by international forest conservation standards.
These milestones are supported by rigorous ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems that underpin consistent batch manufacturing and quality control, and by automated production lines powered by 100% solar energy at its flagship facility.
