What have been the defining milestones in Jai Raj Ispat’s four-decade journey?

    Jai Raj Ispat’s journey over the past four decades has been defined by strategic growth, technological   innovation and market leadership. Some of the key milestones include:

    1985 – Foundation and Early Growth: Establishing the company and entering the steel sector with a focus on quality construction material

    1997 – We became Hyderabad’s first manufacturer of TMT Bars

    2000 – Technology Integration: First in India to manufacture through a continuous caster with Induction Furnace route

    2008 – Expansion and Product Diversification: We established our DRI unit in Bellary, Karnataka with 2 pre-heating kilns of 150 TPD

    2018 – We started work on our flagship Integrated steel plant in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, with current production capacity of 0.5 MnT.

    With integration of latest technologies in association with Danieli Italy SPA and MiniTec Brazil and opting for energy-efficient processes, automation and quality controls, we are ensuring

    consistent quality and high-performance steel while minimizing environmental impact.

    Being one of the few women leaders in the iron & steel sector, what challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

      Being a woman leader in India’s traditionally male-dominated steel industry has its challenges—earning credibility, navigating scepticism and proving that leadership is about competence, not gender. What inspires me is the opportunity to drive impact, lead technological innovation, and mentor talent. Seeing teams deliver high-quality steel for critical infrastructure and knowing I can help pave the way for more women in the industry makes the journey deeply rewarding. I am also grateful for the support of my family and my team which has enabled me to achieve my goals.

      Your facilities integrate EOF, BF, LRF, and continuous casting technologies—how do these contribute to product quality?

      Advanced technologies play a key role in improving both quality and efficiency in steel manufacturing. Processes like Blast Furnace and EOF ensure consistent steelmaking, while LRF helps fine-tune the chemistry to achieve the desired strength and performance. Continuous endless casting and endless rolling improve efficiency and ensure better uniformity in the product and technologies that enhance strength, elongation and overall quality of TMT bars. Overall, these technologies help reduce variability and deliver more consistent, reliable steel to the market.

      How important is automation and precision engineering in your operations today?

      At Jai Raj Ispat Limited, automation and precision engineering are central to our operations today. To navigate a challenging market, the company is leveraging cutting-edge technology by commissioning Asia’s first endless rolling mill, powered by Danieli, Italy. This innovative process eliminates the need for reheating billets, which significantly reduces fuel consumption and operational costs. By transitioning to a continuous, endless stream, the facility avoids traditional front-end and back-end cutting, leading to a substantial boost in material yield. Additionally, the streamlined process ensures that scale loss is kept to an absolute minimum. These advancements collectively drive superior cost efficiency while reinforcing the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability through reduced energy waste

      Could you elaborate on your Bellary plant and its strategic importance?

      The Bellary plant of Jai Raj Ispat Limited plays a key strategic role in strengthening our production capabilities and market reach. Its location offers strong raw material linkages and logistical advantages, enabling efficient supply chain operations. Equipped with modern infrastructure, the facility enhances our overall manufacturing capacity while ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery to meet growing demand across regions

      Your products, including Fe 550D and Fe 600 TMT rebars, are positioned around superior strength and safety. What sets them apart in the market?

      Jai Raj Ispat’s Fe 550D, Fe 600 and CRS TMT rebars stand out for superior strength, safety and reliability. Advanced processes like EOF, LRF and endless casting treatment ensure uniform microstructure, high tensile strength and excellent ductility. Our TMT range provide enhanced corrosion resistance, making them ideal for coastal or industrial environments.

      This combination of consistent quality, structural performance and durability sets our products apart from many competitors, giving engineers, contractors and developers the confidence that their constructions are safe, long-lasting and compliant with the highest standards and 3rd integrated primary steel plant in a southern India

      What strategic objectives does it serve?

      The Kurnool plant plays a key strategic role in strengthening our presence across South India, particularly in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. Its primary objective is to improve market proximity, allowing us to efficiently serve both the retail segment, driven by individual housing and small contractors as well as the project segment, including infrastructure and institutional construction. The plant also supports our focus on consistent quality and scalable operations, while giving us the flexibility to respond to demand across both segments in a timely and cost-effectivee manner. Overall, it is aligned with our strategy of being closer to the market and strengthening our regional footprint.

      What sectors are driving the highest demand currently?

      The demand for Jai Raj Ispat Limited’s TMT bars is primarily driven by infrastructure and construction, which remain the largest consumers of steel in India. This includes road and highway projects, bridges, railways, urban infrastructure and affordable housing. Alongside this, growth in real estate development and industrial construction is also contributing significantly to demand. These sectors continue to be supported by strong government capital expenditure and long-term infrastructure development initiatives across the country

      What trends are you observing in demand from infrastructure, real estate, and industrial sectors?

      Across infrastructure, real estate and industrial sectors, we are seeing a few clear trends. In infrastructure, the shift is towards sustained, multi-year capex with a strong focus on roads, railways and logistics, increasingly extending into district-level projects rather than just metros. In real estate, growth is being driven with a clear shift towards better quality materials and branded play. In the industrial segment, we are seeing increasing activity in warehousing, logistics parks, MSME clusters and manufacturing units, especially along key corridors and highways. Overall, the common thread is that growth is becoming more broad-based and moving beyond large cities, which is a positive structural trend for steel demand.

      Sustainability is becoming critical—what steps is Jai Raj taking toward eco-friendly steel production?

        At Jai Raj Ispat Limited, sustainability is an integral part of our manufacturing philosophy. We focus on improving energy efficiency through modernized production processes, optimizing resource utilization, and reducing emissions at every stage of steelmaking. Our waste heat recovery power plant, EOF reduces energy consumption use of advanced technologies like continuous casting and refining systems helps minimize waste and enhance process efficiency. We are also increasingly aligning our operations with that support long-term environmental responsibility while maintaining high product quality

        How do energy optimization technologies contribute to cost and environmental efficiency?

          At Jai Raj Ispat Limited, energy optimization technologies play a key role in improving both cost efficiency and environmental performance. By optimizing fuel consumption, heat recovery, and process control, these systems reduce overall energy usage and operational costs. At the same time, they lower emissions and resource wastage, enabling more sustainable and efficient steel production without compromising on quality

          What is your long-term vision for sustainable steel manufacturing?

            At Jai Raj Ispat Limited, our long-term vision is to build a future-ready and sustainable steel manufacturing ecosystem that balances growth with environmental responsibility. We aim to continuously reduce our carbon footprint through cleaner technologies, greater energy efficiency and process optimization, while maintaining world-class product quality. Our focus is on evolving into a more sustainable, innovation-led organization that supports India’s infrastructure growth in a responsible and efficient manner

            How do you see the Indian steel industry evolving over the next 5–10 years?

              Over the next 5 to 10 years, the Indian steel industry is expected to enter a structurally strong growth phase. Steel production is projected to grow from around 140 million tonnes today to nearly 230–250 million tonnes by 2030, largely driven by infrastructure and housing. Continued government capex of over Rs. 10–11 lakh crore annually in roads, railways and urban infrastructure will provide long-term demand visibility, while housing demand especially in Tier-2, Tier-3 and Tier-4 markets will remain a key driver for TMT consumption. At the same time, the industry will evolve towards better efficiency, more disciplined capacity expansion and a gradual shift towards higher quality and more sustainable production practices. Overall, the opportunity is significant and companies that focus on cost competitiveness, consistency and market reach will be best positioned to benefit.

              What opportunities do you see in infrastructure and make in India initiatives?

                At Jai Raj Ispat Limited, we see significant long-term opportunities emerging from India’s infrastructure growth and the Make in India initiative. Large-scale investments in highways, railways, urban development, smart cities and housing are driving sustained demand for high-quality steel products like TMT bars and structural steel. The Make in India initiative is further strengthening domestic manufacturing by encouraging industrial expansion across sectors such as engineering, automotive and capital goods. This not only increases steel consumption but also creates demand far more advanced, application-specific and high-performance steel solutions. Together, these initiatives are creating a strong, predictable growth environment where innovation, capacity expansion and value-added manufacturing will play a key role in shaping the future of the industry.”

                What advice would you give to young professionals, especially women, entering manufacturing?

                  I believe manufacturing is one of the most rewarding sectors for young professionals because it combines learning, problem-solving and real-world impact. My advice to young professionals, especially women – is to focus on building strong fundamentals and technical understanding, because knowledge is what builds confidence in any industry. Don’t hesitate to step into core operational roles; that is where real learning happens. For women in particular, I would say: don’t limit your ambitions based on traditional perceptions of the industry. Manufacturing today is far more inclusive and technology-driven than ever before. If you stay consistent, keep learning and let your work speak for itself, opportunities will follow. Most importantly, be patient with your journey. Growth in manufacturing is built on experience, resilience and continuous learning
