ROTAIR SpA, an Italian company that specialises in the design, manufacturing and distribution of portable air compressors, multifunctional dumpers and hydraulic breakers, part of the ELGi Equipments Limited group, has been collaborating with KG Bontira, an Italy-based manufacturer of construction machinery, for several years. This long-term partnership recently led to the development of a customised compressor solution, designed to meet the specific performance and space requirements of KG Bontira’s latest mobile systems.
Founded in 1999, KG Bontira designs and manufactures specialised equipment for installing underlays and screeds in residential and industrial buildings. The company serves customers throughout Italy and Europe, offering mobile systems for underlayment and screeding, mixing equipment, and accessories for modern construction.
For one of its latest developments, KG Bontira needed a motor-driven compressor with a screw unit capable of delivering air at a rate of 5,000 l/min to create high pressure inside the mixing tank. The right air pressure is needed to push material from the sealed tank through a flexible hose and allow operators to efficiently lay screeds and underlayments. Additionally, compressed air is also used to power the numerous pneumatic components inside the machine. The compressor unit needed to be compact yet powerful, capable of providing the correct airflow and pressure in any environment in which the machines operate. Another key requirement was reliable support for both KG Bontira, as an intermediary supplier, and its end customers.

ROTAIR responded by offering the customisation of its MDVN 53 REHLKO STAGE V KG compressor.
«Right from the start, ROTAIR has demonstrated its ability to listen to our needs. While other suppliers were unable to meet our space and compact design needs, ROTAIR proved responsive, flexible, and innovative, offering a customised approach that met all our expectations. We have received reliable equipment backed by ROTAIR’s technical expertise, further enhancing the value we offer to our customers.”
said Filippo Stabellini, Head of Production at KG Bontira.
The ROTAIR MDVN 53 compressor is built for demanding construction site conditions, with operating pressure options of 7, 10, or 12 bar (102, 145, or 174 psi), and a minimum working threshold of 5 bar (73 psi). It delivers air at an outlet temperature of approximately 40°C (104°F), suitable for applications requiring consistent pressure and temperature control. Part of the MDVN series, the unit features a compact and robust layout designed to meet current noise and emissions regulations. It is equipped with an integrated aftercooler and condensate filtration system, providing dry, cooled air output for improved performance and compatibility with sensitive pneumatic tools.
