Novatron updates Xsite DRILL with measuring-while-drilling
Novatron introduces Xsite DRILL version 2.13 for surface drilling, adding measuring-while-drilling capability, expanded machine interfaces and workflow improvements for higher drilling accuracy and data traceability. novatron.fi Novatron has released version 2.13 of its Xsite DRILL drilling and hole navigation system, extending functionality for surface drilling operations with integrated measuring while drilling (MWD), updated machine interfaces and usability enhancements. Xsite DRILL is a satellite-based positioning and navigation system designed to guide drill operators to target hole locations and support accurate control of drilling angle and depth. The system is used on cabin-based and non-cabin drill rigs, with the latter supported through the Xsite DRILL RD variant featuring a wireless remote display. Measuring while drilling across all devices A key addition in version 2.13 is the availability of MWD data collection on all supported devices. The system can now log parameters such as penetration speed during drilling. Data recording intervals are configurable either by distance, ranging from 0.05 m to 2.00 m, or by automatic detection of drill rod changes, allowing data to be captured per rod length. MWD data is currently stored locally in IREDES format within the machine control computer (MCC). Centralised management support for this feature is scheduled for the first half of 2026, enabling broader use of drilling data for analysis and reporting. Enhanced as-built data and pattern handling The new software version expands as-built documentation capabilities by allowing operators to record both the start and end points of each drill hole. This supports more complete post-drilling verification and improves the quality of drilling records in production environments. Workflow efficiency has also been addressed through interface refinements. Users can now deselect all project models with a single command, reducing setup time in large projects containing multiple data models. Drill pattern handling has been optimised, with a combined blast direction and inclination view introduced to simplify interpretation during setup. The maximum supported drill pattern size has been increased from 50 × 50 to 100 × 100 holes, accommodating larger blasting layouts without segmentation. Quick-access buttons have been added to streamline drill hole selection during operation. Interface and usability updates Version 2.13 introduces an optional light-themed user interface, intended to improve visibility in bright environments and during remote operation. The interface has also been visually updated to align with Novatron’s current brand identity, while maintaining functional consistency for existing users. Expanded machine interfaces Support for additional machine types has been extended. In SB Tech configurations, ultrasonic sensors can now be used for rail extension measurement. A new interface has been introduced for StonePower and AMV drill rigs, supporting drilling depth, mast angles and MWD data, along with mast auto-alignment functionality. For Epiroc FlexiROC T40R MY2025 rigs, the update enables a hybrid sensor solution via Ethernet, providing access to depth measurement and boom swing data. These interface extensions are intended to broaden compatibility and allow Xsite DRILL to be deployed across a wider range of drilling platforms. With version 2.13, Xsite DRILL moves beyond navigation support toward integrated data acquisition and process documentation, reflecting increasing demand for traceability, consistency and digitalisation in surface drilling operations. www.novatron.com Powered by Induportals Media Publishing

Measuring while drilling across all devices
A key addition in version 2.13 is the availability of MWD data collection on all supported devices.
Enhanced as-built data and pattern handling
The new software version expands as-built documentation capabilities by allowing operators to record both the start and end points of each drill hole. This supports more complete post-drilling verification and improves the quality of drilling records in production environments.
Workflow efficiency has also been addressed through interface refinements. Users can now deselect all project models with a single command, reducing setup time in large projects containing multiple data models.
