Hitachi ZX95US-7 SLF Brings 10-Metre Reach to the Ultra-Compact Segment

Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe is expanding its range of special application excavators with the new ZX95US-7 SLF, an ultra-compact model designed to provide extended reach for urban jobsites, drainage works and operations in confined spaces.

The ZX95US-7 SLF is the most compact model in Hitachi’s super long front excavator range. Compared with the standard ZX95US-7, it features a longer boom and arm that allow it to reach up to 10 metres. The configuration is intended for jobs where the machine needs to keep a distance from the work area, including sewer installation, drainage, urban utility projects, slope finishing, canal lining and light dredging operations.

The new model is part of Hitachi’s strategy linked to the Reliable Orange campaign, which focuses on reliability, operational efficiency, cost control, safety and machine availability.

Operating Costs and Compact Configuration

On the operating cost side, the ZX95US-7 SLF is equipped with a Stage V-compliant engine that does not require an SCR system, eliminating the related maintenance requirements. The machine also features a new ECO gauge, designed to help the operator monitor fuel consumption and manage efficiency during operation.

Within the Zaxis-7 generation, the ZX95US-7 SLF combines the compact architecture of the series with a super long front configuration developed for applications where reach and control of machine dimensions are key factors. The short-tail swing radius supports work in urban areas, existing infrastructure and locations close to canals or waterways, while the operating weight, ranging from 9,040 to 9,520 kg, helps reduce ground pressure. For grading and finishing tasks, the machine can also be equipped with an optional floating blade.

Visibility and Safety on Site

The cab of the ZX95US-7 SLF integrates solutions designed to improve visibility, comfort and safety during operation. These include the Aerial Angle camera system, which provides a 270-degree bird’s-eye view of the area around the machine. The operator can choose from six display modes, adapting the monitoring of the surrounding environment to different jobsite conditions.

The visibility package includes LED work lights and a windscreen wiper with an enlarged sweeping area, designed to support the operator in low-light or less favourable weather conditions. The lights on the boom and cab have been repositioned to improve illumination of the work area, while the fuel tank has been placed in a more accessible position to simplify refuelling operations.

Maintenance and Machine Availability

Machine availability remains one of the key points of the Zaxis-7 generation. In the case of the ZX95US-7 SLF, Hitachi highlights testing carried out at its facilities in Japan and a design approach focused on long-term durability. Reducing downtime also depends on simplified maintenance and solutions that make daily cleaning and inspection easier.

Maintenance is supported by access to the engine compartment, which is designed to make inspection and service operations easier. The radiator is easily accessible, the battery can be replaced without complex procedures, and the filters are grouped in a single compartment to reduce the time required for routine maintenance.
