Entegra Acquires TEI Rock Drills, Expands Attachments Portfolio
Key markets for TEI Rock Drills include underground utilities, mining, tunneling, and construction.
Entegra Attachments has added another construction equipment manufacturer to its portfolio, this time acquiring Colorado-based excavator drill manufacturer TEI Rock Drills.
Founded in 1980 and operating out of Montrose, TEI Rock Drills offers limited-access drill rigs, rock drill safety equipment, and rock drill components, all made in the U.S. Key markets for TEI Rock Drills include underground utilities, mining, tunneling and construction, particularly for bridge foundations and soil stabilization.
About half of TEI’s sales, according to Entegra, come from excavator attachments, hydraulic rigs and other equipment sales, with the remaining 50% coming from drill heads, parts and accessories.
Entegra Attachments functions as a holding company for equipment manufacturers and also owns Bloom Manufacturing, Hercules Machinery Corporation, Titan Metal Worx and B&D Fabricators. Entegra Attachments CEO Mike Flannery said acquiring TEI created synergy with HMC’s pile driving equipment offerings.
TEI offers four primary rock drill attachments for excavators:
- HEM: ideal for difficult and confined environments, offers 360-degree swivel for an extreme range of motion. Different configurations are available for excavators in the 13-ton, 20-ton, and 25-ton classes.
- MEM: designed for the 12-ton to 15-ton excavator market, the MEM offers the same features as the HEM and features newly redesigned lighter SCF Feed System. Aimed at work include installing soil nails, tie backs, and rock drilling.
- HEMH: billed as the largest and most powerful in TEI’s lineup, the HEHM drill is built for 25- to 30-ton machines and can be configured for most drilling styles.
- MME: the only drill in TEI’s lineup dedicated solely to mini excavators, the MME is designed for 5-ton to 10-ton mini excavators and best suited for installing micropiles, soil nails, tiebacks, rock drilling and the installation of the popular hollow bars.
The purchase price and terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
