Develon is launching a new series of electric-powered excavators to meet the demands of the energy transition.
Even though it’s still a niche segment, electric construction machinery is gaining ground. Progressive regions such as the Nordics and Benelux are leading the shift, driven by strict emissions rules and a growing push to decarbonise the sector.
Develon’s broadened portfolio responds to the increased demand and delivers the same performance to its diesel counterparts. Built on the company’s proven ‘-7 Series’ platform, the first wave of electric machines covers key segments across both compact and mid-size classes. The new lineup will be rolled out in phases, starting with the launch of the first models:
Electric Mini Excavators
DX20ZE-7, DX23E-7 and DX85RE-7, available from 2026.
Electric Wheeled Excavators (10-20 tonne class)
DX100WE-7, available from 2026, and DX160WE-7K, which will be launched by the end of this year.
The DX160WE-7K offers all the new features from the ‘-7K’ generation of wheeled excavators, combined with 100% electric drive. It features a 105 kW permanent-magnet motor and a LiFePO₄ battery pack capable of around 10 hours of operation under defined conditions. With an operating weight of approximately 17.3 t and a bucket capacity of around 1.02 m³, the machine boasts the same digging and handling capability as a traditional diesel model—but now with zero point-of-use emissions and significantly lower noise levels, making it ideal for urban sites.

Electric Crawler Excavators (20 tonne class and above)
DX230LCE-7 and DX250LCE-7, also commercially available by the end of this year.
Extending the electric portfolio into the medium crawler segment, the DX230LCE-7 is targeted for full performance in heavy applications. It combines advanced electric drive technology with the robust base architecture of the ‘-7’ series to deliver comparable production capacity to the diesel variant, with operating time around 9 hours on one charge. The machine is designed with operator familiarity in mind-controls, attachments and service infrastructure align with the diesel model, while delivering the benefits of zero emissions, quieter operation and lower vibration.
The DX250LCE-7 is designed for significant earthmoving and construction applications. It has all the benefits of the DX230LCE-7 but with a larger battery pack, bringing the total operating time to 12 hours.

Develon’s approach to electrification is guided by market demand and built on internal engineering capabilities, strategic collaboration with European suppliers, and attention to real-world jobsite needs. The company combines in-house development with external partnerships to expand its electric offering in a way that avoids overlap and responds to specific regional requirements.
