Caterpillar Introduces Cat 308 CR Fixed Boom Mini Excavator

More power, higher lift capacity and compact radius performance in the 8-tonne class.  www.caterpillar.com Caterpillar has introduced the new Cat® 308 CR Fixed Boom mini excavator, replacing the Cat® 307.5 and expanding its 8-tonne-class lineup with greater power, higher lift capacities and a compact radius design optimized for confined job sites. A key innovation of the Cat 308 CR is its compact radius (CR) design, which reduces machine overhang by 67% compared to the previous 307.5 model when equipped with the standard 250 kg (550 lb) counterweight. Even with the optional 500 kg (1,100 lb) counterweight—an option not available on the 307.5—the new machine still achieves a 61% reduction in overhang, improving safety and maneuverability when working close to structures. The fixed boom configuration enhances lifting performance and stability, especially when combined with the machine’s slightly larger undercarriage and dual counterweight options. Together, these updates deliver higher lift capacities and increased confidence when handling heavy loads in tight spaces. Increased power and hydraulic performance The Cat 308 CR is powered by the Cat C2.8 Turbo engine, delivering 51.2 kW (69.0 hp) net power, a 25% increase in gross horsepower over the 307.5. The engine meets EU Stage V and U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards and is paired with efficient hydraulics featuring a variable-displacement (Smart) pump to reduce operating costs. With load-sensing hydraulics and oil flow of up to 167 L/min (44 gal/min), the new model provides improved performance for hydromechanical attachments. Primary and secondary auxiliary circuits further enhance work tool versatility, while pin sizing remains unchanged, allowing customers to continue using existing 307.5 attachments. Designed for productivity and ease of use Building on Caterpillar’s next-generation mini excavator platform, the Cat 308 CR retains popular features such as stick steer, cruise control, Ease of Use (EOU) technology readiness and a sealed, pressurized cab designed for operator comfort. Track width, undercarriage length and operating weight have all been increased to improve stability, particularly when lifting over the side. The machine supports a wide range of grading and safety technologies, including Cat Indicate and E-Fence, which help operators improve accuracy, avoid obstacles and protect underground utilities. Optional Cat Grade systems—ranging from entry-level visual guidance to advanced 3D GNSS-based solutions—enable precise grading for applications from simple footings to complex site profiles. Compact performance, broader capability According to Caterpillar, the Cat 308 CR Fixed Boom mini excavator delivers maximum power and performance in a compact footprint, making it well suited for urban construction, utilities, landscaping and other space-restricted applications. www.caterpillar.com Powered by Induportals Media Publishing
