Volvo CE Delivers Malaysia’s first EC210 Configured with Scrap Magnet

Volvo Construction Equipment has delivered a New Generation EC210 excavator to Vijayalakshmi Metal Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian company specialising in the recycling and trading of metal scrap. The delivery marks the first EC210 in Malaysia to be configured with a scrap magnet attachment for use in the scrap metal industry.

Vijayalakshmi Metal Sdn. Bhd. has put the 21.6-tonne excavator straight into daily yard work, using it to lift, sort, load and move scrap. The company selected the New Generation EC210 as a fit for high-cycle scrap handling, where fast, repetitive movements and controlled placement matter. In this setting, the machine is intended to help keep material flowing through the site, cut handling time and support more predictable day-to-day productivity.

“We chose the New Generation EC210 because it offers the right balance of performance, fuel efficiency, and stability for our operations. The machine handles our magnet attachment very well, and it has improved our overall efficiency in the yard. We are also pleased with the comfort for our operators and the support we receive from Volvo Construction Equipment.”

Said Dato’ Dr. P. Kathiresan, Owner and Managing Director of Vijayalakshmi Metal Sdn. Bhd.

Characteristics

Configured for scrap applications, the EC210 supports larger magnet setups (up to 1.2 m) while keeping handling controlled and predictable. The excavator’s hydraulic package is tuned for responsive attachment work, which helps operators place and release material accurately without wasting motion. In practice, that translates into cleaner grabs, fewer re-handles, and steadier output when the yard is running at full pace.

Operator environment
The EC210’s cab layout, visibility and control logic are aimed at reducing the workload in high-cycle scrap movements, where operators spend long shifts making short, repetitive swings and precise placements. A more predictable hydraulic feel also helps when positioning material over piles, trucks or processing areas.

Uptime and support
The excavator is backed by local service support to keep the machine available in a yard environment where unplanned stops quickly disrupt material flow. For scrap processors, that combination of machine availability and responsive support can be as important as outright lifting performance.
