MAN Truck & Bus and Gartner, an Austrian vehicle transport and logistics specialist, have agreed to deliver up to 1,200 MAN standard and high-volume semitrailer tractors by the end of 2028, with the first of these rolling into the Gartner fleet from summer 2025. With the new MAN PowerLion drivetrain, the MAN TGXs are particularly fuel-efficient and low in CO2emissions. Gartner is already using the MAN eTGX battery-electric and therefore locally CO2-free drive.

“Our customer Gartner has been relying on MAN trucks for over 50 years. It is a great honor for us to continue and consolidate this proven partnership with this new agreement. The new framework agreement is also confirmation for us that MAN products meet the high demands that Gartner places on its vehicle fleet. We are very pleased to continue our cooperation”

says Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales & Customer Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus SE.

“This decades-long partnership with MAN is characterised by mutual trust, a high level of innovation in the vehicle product range and a constant focus on profitability. We look forward to continuing this partnership over the coming decades”

emphasises Richard Gartner, CEO of Gartner Transport Holding.

The relationship between MAN and Gartner goes far beyond a typical customer-supplier dynamic. While Gartner’s fleet is predominantly composed of MAN vehicles over 80% and they’ve purchased more than 2,300 vehicles from MAN Austria between 2018 and April 2025, their collaboration extends much further. Gartner leverages its extensive logistics expertise to serve MAN as a crucial supplier, handling vehicle transport and providing a wide array of logistics and freight forwarding services. This deep and trusting cooperation highlights a truly integrated partnership.

MAN PowerLion: economical and environmentally friendly powerhouse

Gartner’s latest fleet of vehicles will incorporate the cutting-edge PowerLion driveline, a technology MAN unveiled at IAA 2024. The core of this system is the new MAN D30 engine, a 13-liter, in-line six-cylinder unit. This engine, a product of the TRATON GROUP’s collaborative expertise, sets a new benchmark for commercial vehicle efficiency, exceeding 50%.

When paired with the new, smoother-shifting MAN TipMatic 14 gearbox and enhanced aerodynamics, the 2025 model year MAN TGX semitrailer tractors are projected to deliver an approximate five percent reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This is a significant improvement over the already efficient D26 engine found in previous models.

The MAN D30 engine offers a versatile power range, from 380 to 560 hp (2,100 to 2,800 Nm), making it robust enough to meet all operational demands, especially Gartner’s varied transport needs.
