Liebherr unveiled its advanced R 917 G8 crawler excavator at Bauma 2025

Liebherr's R 917 G8 offers the most comprehensive 14+ t compact crawler range, with a tight slewing radius, high performance, and a modern INTUSI cab for superior control.  www.liebherr.com As a global development centre for the Liebherr Group for crawler excavators for earthmoving, Liebherr-France SAS is introducing its latest compact excavator, the R 917 Compact G8 at Bauma 2025. It is equipped with a stage V diesel engine of 100 kW / 136 hp and has an operating weight of around 17.5 tonnes. At the Bauma booth, Liebherr is presenting the excavator with a ditch cleaning bucket of 0.5 m3. As another module in the product range, this model rounds off a comprehensive range of compact excavators that has proven itself on the world market since the early 2000s. The R 915 Compact G8 crawler excavator will replace the R 914 Compact G6 in the future. The R 917 Compact G8 is being added to the range. The R 920 Compact is also offered as a G8 model, the R 926 Compact G6 and R 936 Compact G6 retain their positions in the model range. Compact and flexible on all building sites The R 917 Compact impresses with its compact tail swing radius (1,700 mm), which makes working in tight spaces easier. The new development with the tail swing radius came about because there are more and more building sites in urban areas and the market demand has increased. Its compactness ensures more safety, flexibility and mobility on the building site. The reduced dimensions also ensure better transportability in the event of selective deployments from one building site to another. Powerful and versatile In comparison to the R 915 Compact G8, the R 917 Compact G8 has higher lifting and digging forces, as well as increased power as a compromise without having to go to the next largest model, the R 920 Compact. The R 917 Compact G8 is particularly versatile and can be equipped with numerous tools and with the Liebherr hydraulic coupling system or the Solidlink quick coupler. Solidlink can be used to change hydraulic or mechanical tools safely from the operator's cab. New operator's cab with INTUSI operating concept The R 917 Compact G8 crawler excavator is equipped with a new operator's cab with a futuristic design. All Liebherr construction and material handling machines in the earthmoving product segment will be equipped with this type of operator's cab in stages. In this operator's cab, Liebherr provides the operators with the innovative, adaptive and intuitive INTUSI operating concept. Thanks to the understandable Liebherr operating logic, INTUSI ensures efficient machine usage and supports the operators with suitable functions. Maintenance The diesel engine is more accessible for maintenance thanks to it being installed longitudinally. The remaining maintenance points can also be reached easily from the ground. www.liebherr.com Powered by Induportals Media Publishing
