Liebherr Introduces T48-8s Telescopic Handler with 8-Metre Lift Height

Liebherr expands its telescopic handler lineup with the new T48-8s, a model built on the foundation of the T55-7s but engineered for greater reach and capacity. With an 8-metre lift height and a 4.8-tonne load capacity, the T48-8s features a boom that’s 550 mm longer than its predecessor, while maintaining the same 115 kW engine, high-performance hydraulics, and operator-focused cab.

Thanks to its extended telescopic boom, the T48-8s offers operators an extra metre of lift height and forward reach compared to previous models. This added range proves especially useful when loading bulk trailers, hoppers, or containers up to 4 metres high. In industrial settings, particularly in recycling and material handling applications, where space and stacking efficiency are crucial, the machine delivers measurable benefits. Operators can move and stack materials without having to drive deep into stockpiles, reducing cycle times while enhancing safety and site manoeuvrability.

The longer boom reduces the lift angle required to reach the tipping position. This improves visibility of the load and the surrounding area, reducing the risk of collisions. An optimised dump angle allows materials to discharge more easily from the bucket, supporting quicker and cleaner loading operations.

The T48-8s adopts the same core architecture as the T55-7s, including the 115 kW engine, load-sensing hydraulics, and the operator’s cab designed for full visibility. The seat-mounted joystick, which moves with the operator, offers precise control, especially during repetitive handling tasks.

The machine is equipped with an electronic pre-control system that allows integration of support functions such as Auto Power, Fine Control Mode, and Automatic Telescope Retraction. These systems are intended to reduce effort during extended shifts and support consistent performance. Hydraulic output reaches up to 200 l/min, with a variable flow pump that adjusts based on demand. Simultaneous movements, fast cycle times, and an energy-saving lowering function (ECO-Motion) contribute to smoother operation and improved efficiency on site.

The T48-8s is fitted as standard with a 3.5-inch colour display, with an optional 7-inch display available for enhanced operator information and machine monitoring. The steering system includes three selectable modes plus crab steering, electronically switchable via a rotary control.

The T48-8s is now available for order, with first units already in production and ready for delivery.
