Komatsu aims to expand its presence in the North American market to meet growing demand and has signed an agreement to acquire assets of SRC of Lexington, Inc., a remanufacturing specialist that rebuilds heavy equipment components for the construction and mining sectors. The transaction with the Kentucky-based company is expected to close by the end of February 2026.

The deal with SRC of Lexington, Inc. is nearing completion. The acquisition will strengthen Komatsu’s remanufacturing capabilities, aiming to support customers and respond to rising demand while reinforcing its presence in North America. This market is one of the world’s largest markets for construction and mining equipment, as Danny Murtagh, Vice President, Parts and Infrastructure, Komatsu North America, explained.

“This acquisition allows us to deepen our reman capabilities closer to customers, improve responsiveness, and support dealers”

Demand for remanufactured components has increased in parallel with the growth of the installed base of quarry and mining equipment, allowing Komatsu to expand its transaction volume by about fourfold from FY2010 to FY2024.

Komatsu’s reman operations collect used components from construction and mining machines, rebuild them to near-new condition in dedicated facilities, and put them back on the market to the same quality standards as new parts. Remanufacturing can cut costs and lead times, while improving resource efficiency through reuse.

As of 2025, Komatsu’s reman network includes 45 locations across 16 countries, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
