K.A. Equipment Group has introduced the K-Tec 1230 pull pan scraper, a lighter but productive evolution of its 1228 model. Designed for tractor-drawn applications, the 1230 boosts self-loading productivity while weighing nearly 10,000 pounds less than other 30-cubic-yard scrapers on the market.
Each component was reengineered using advanced modelling, finite element analysis (FEA), and field testing to achieve maximum strength with minimal weight. Despite its reduced frame, the new model maintains a 72,000-pound load rating and delivers strong torsional rigidity under load.
The result is a scraper that pulls easier, loads faster, and floats better in the field, without compromising the structural durability that defines the K-Tec brand. The new model was made utilising Hardox steels, precision-cut components, and an optimised load path through the frame and hitch.

Comprehensive field testing with several heavy-civil contractors confirmed the K-Tec 1230’s performance gains in both self-loading and push-loading operations. In self-loading mode, the 1230 delivered 16% more material per hour than the 1228, with identical travel distances and cycle times. When paired with a dozer for push-loading, the gap widened further, thanks to faster cut times and increased load volumes per cycle. Even in train configurations, the 1230 outpaced 1228 setups by 3% to 7% in hourly output, despite similar cycle lengths. Operators also reported smoother loading in heavy, cohesive soils and cleaner discharge with minimal carry-back, contributing to more consistent fill and a measurable reduction in total cycle time.
The 1230 features refined bowl geometry, increased cutting-edge clearance, and optional grader-blade attachments, working together to maintain smooth material flow with less horsepower demand. The push-block system has been redesigned as a bolt-on component, simplifying maintenance and replacement after wear. An optional push-roller is also available, offering a smoother interface when paired with a dozer or the K-Tec Ox Block during push-loading.

“The 1230 represents a new level of precision in our direct-mount lineup. It’s proof that lighter can still mean stronger when it’s engineered with purpose.”
Said Shaun Eidse, Director of Research & Development.
Other enhancements include:
Its combination of reduced weight, structural strength, and documented field performance places the 1230 among the most efficient scrapers in its class in terms of productivity-to-weight ratio. K-Tec 1230 Direct Mount Scraper is available now through authorised K-Tec dealers across the globe.
