Hildebrand OHG, a civil engineering company, is tackling the challenge of dredging four harbours within a UNESCO World Heritage Site using Hitachi machinery.

On Lake Constance, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a Hitachi ZX350LC-7 SLF, supplied by German dealer Kiesel, is at work. Hildebrand OHG, a civil engineering firm based on Lake Constance, is using a super-long front excavator to carry out precision dredging just 10 to 50 centimetres underwater, meeting strict environmental and archaeological requirements. The area was also carefully prepared due to the potential risk of encountering unexploded ordnance dating back to WWII.

“The machine is equipped with a range of 20 metres and Leica Geosystem 3D which is suitable for underwater use, to maintain precise dredging depths”

Says Managing Director of Hildebrand OHG, Florian Hildebrand. With a 37.5-tonne operating weight and a 210 kW engine, the machine delivers the power and stability required for demanding hydraulic engineering work. A reinforced undercarriage and a heavier counterweight improve stability on the pontoon, while the use of bio-oil and HVO fuel supports Hitachi’s efforts to cut emissions. Hildebrand’s purpose-built bucket attachment reliably handles highly liquefied sediment, efficiently scooping and loading the material onto barges.

On a site where every centimetre counts, the ZX350LC-7 SLF is helping Hildebrand work safely. That balance of reach, control, and support is what keeps the job moving.
