Faroe Islands Contractor Rókin adds Grove GMK6300L-1 to its Fleet

Rókin Sp/f, a major construction contractor in the Faroe Islands, has taken delivery of a Grove GMK6300L-1 all-terrain crane, marking a shift from relying mainly on rented cranes to operating a high-capacity unit in its own fleet. The crane is the largest currently in service on the islands, increasing local lifting capacity for upcoming projects.

Rókin works across harbour construction and related infrastructure, including drilling, piling, timber works and storage. Its fleet already includes excavators, rollers, vibrators and loading cranes, and the Grove GMK6300L-1 adds a new mobile-crane capability to support heavier lifting needs on projects across the Faroe Islands.

The GMK6300L‑1 offers a 300 t maximum lifting capacity and an 80 m main boom, making it ideal for challenging terrains and demanding lifting operations. The new crane was put to work soon after delivery on a harbour project, supporting lifting operations in a marine environment where stability and dependable handling are critical.

The crane was sold by UN Mobilkraner A/S, Manitowoc’s official dealer in Denmark. UN Mobilkraner A/S will also provide ongoing local support and service, ensuring Rókin receives expert assistance, maintenance, and responsive technical backing throughout the crane’s lifecycle.

Holger Haber, sales manager for Scandinavia at Manitowoc and Jørgen Andersen,  sales manager at UN Mobilkraner, welcomed Rókin representatives Trúgvi and Búgvi Kjell to the Manitowoc factory in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, earlier this year, where they received training and insights into Grove technology.

“We are proud to support Rókin with this high‑performance crane and are confident that the GMK6300L‑1 will be a valuable asset for future projects. With UN Mobilkraner A/S providing comprehensive support, Rókin has a strong service partner to ensure maximum uptime and operational safety.”

Said Holger Haber.

With the addition of the Grove GMK6300L-1, Rókin strengthens its capabilities for upcoming infrastructure and harbor development projects in the Faroe Islands, backed by Grove engineering and the dedicated support of UN Mobilkraner A/S.
