Continental Tyres Launches Conti Hybrid HT 5 Trailer Tyre For Regional Transport

Continental launches a new tyre range aimed at the regional transport market. The goal is to meet the needs of daily regional freight transport distribution.

Continental Tyres opens its doors to the needs of the regional transport market with the launch of the Conti Hybrid HT 5. The range is designed as a coordinated solution for steer, drive, and trailer axles, built to operate from urban routes to highways, including short on- and off-road sections. The new Continental line is designed to handle frequent stop-and-go braking, manoeuvring in narrow streets, cornering, and varying load conditions.

“We developed the new Conti Hybrid HT 5 specifically for fleets that have to withstand the high demands of regional distribution transport on a daily basis.”

As Hinnerk Kaiser, Head of Product Development for Bus and Truck Tyres at Continental, explained. Compared with the previous version, it delivers 15% higher mileage, helping to reduce tyre replacement costs in trailer operations. For a typical regional transport fleet with 80 trailers and an average annual mileage of 110,000 km per trailer, this translates into around 32 trailer tyres per year.

“The tyre’s optimised rolling resistance ensures fuel-efficient operation and helps to reduce fleet costs.”

As Kaiser added. The benefits are not limited to operating costs, where tyres account for an average of 53%, but also include environmental gains: raw material use is reduced, and CO2 emissions are lowered across the entire value chain.

Innovative technology and safe performance

The Conti Hybrid HT 5 features improved grip on cold and wet roads, reflected by a B rating for wet grip on the EU tyre label. Its redesigned tread includes zigzag-shaped central grooves and 2D “pocket” sipes to maintain consistent traction even in demanding weather conditions. The optimised tread stiffness also promotes even pressure distribution, while maintaining high standards in acoustic optimisation.

Available as smart tyres: Conti Hybrid HT 5 can be integrated into the ContiConnect digital tyre management system.

Continental offers coordinated solutions for both the steer axle with the Conti Hybrid HS 5 and the drive axle with the Conti Hybrid HD 5, designed to deliver strong traction along with stable, balanced braking performance. Completing the portfolio is the Conti Hybrid HT 5 for the trailer axle, designed for greater stability under varying load conditions and equipped with RFID sensors.

From March, it will be available in sizes 385/65 R22.5 and 385/55 R22.5, with additional key sizes to be added to the range by 2027. All tyres are available ex works as smart tyres: the pre-installed sensor enables seamless integration into the ContiConnect digital tyre management system.
