Cat D11 XE brings electric drive to largest dozer platform
Caterpillar has introduced the Cat D11 XE, an electric drive version of its largest track-type tractor aimed at mining operations. The manufacturer says the dozer consumes up to 25% less fuel per unit of material moved and shifts 5–10% more material per hour than the next-generation Cat D11. The electric drivetrain has 60% fewer moving parts than a mechanical drive system, which Caterpillar says helps simplify service and lower owning and operating costs over the machine’s life.
