The 21-ton equipment, featuring a battery capacity of approximately 500 kWh, had previously undergone successful evaluations in the United Kingdom and Norway, earning CE certification. The company has introduced this innovative machinery in the works of the 31-kilometre high-speed section between Lorca (Murcia) and Pulpí (Almería) in order to assess its performance and working capacity under real conditions. The LiuGong 856HE loader, equipped with a 423 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery, offers a loading capacity of 3.7 m³ in its bucket. It features an impressive recharging capability, reaching from 12% to 100% battery charge in approximately 75 minutes with a maximum charging power of 300 kW, enabling efficient and continuous work shifts. The initial tests conducted by ACCIONA are delivering positive outcomes, surpassing expectations.
