Bobcat to Debut R2-Series Mini Excavators at Executive Hire Show 2026

New R2-Series mini excavators for hire applications The R2-Series range comprises the E16, E17z, E19 and E20z, replacing the previous M-Series E17, E17z, E19 and E20z models. Designed with rental customers in mind, the new generation delivers higher performance, enhanced efficiency and advanced features previously only available on larger excavators. A key innovation is Bobcat’s SmartFlow load-sensing hydraulic system, combined with a closed-centre, flow-sharing valve block and an upgraded engine. This advanced hydraulic architecture delivers power on demand, improving precision, multi-function capability and overall machine responsiveness. Compared with the previous generation, the new system reduces fuel consumption by up to 18% and lowers noise levels by 4 dBA, while enabling operators to carry out multiple hydraulic functions simultaneously — even when using high-demand attachments such as flail mowers. Compact performance with large-machine capability The SmartFlow system ensures continuous, optimised hydraulic flow while minimising energy use, allowing operators to drive, slew and lift smoothly at the same time. This improves productivity and ease of use, particularly in demanding rental applications where operator skill levels may vary. Portable power solutions on display In addition to compact plant equipment, Bobcat will also highlight its portable power portfolio for the hire industry. The PA12.7V variable pressure compressor featured on the stand uses Bobcat’s FlexAir technology, operating across a pressure range of 5.5 to 12.1 bar with free air delivery from 5.2 to 7.0 m³/min. This flexibility allows a single compressor to support multiple applications, including general construction, pneumatic tools, abrasive blasting and cable blowing — making it well suited to rental fleets seeking maximum utilisation.
