India’s infrastructure build-out, from metro lines to bridges and ports, rests on deep foundations. BAUER Maschinen GmbH wants to be closer to the contractors doing that work.
The German manufacturer of specialist foundation equipment has opened a new production, sales and service facility in Pune. The site covers about 15,000 square metres and employs roughly 100 people.
Part of the global network
Pune is not a stand-alone assembly plant. BAUER Maschinen will integrate it into its global production network, combining its international manufacturing processes and its development and engineering know-how with local capabilities. The stated aim is to link production, sales and service more closely and give customers in India and the wider region more direct support.
The emphasis is on local sales and service. Being closer to customers, the company says, allows faster coordination and better support over the whole machine lifecycle. For contractors running drilling rigs on tight schedules, that translates into quicker access to technicians and parts.
“India is an important growth market for BAUER Maschinen,” said Wulf Flos, Managing Director of BAUER Maschinen GmbH. “With our new facility in Pune, we are expanding our long-term presence in the country. Pune will become an integral part of our international production network.”
What comes next
BAUER has not said which machines or components will be built in Pune. The answer will show whether the site is mainly a service base for the Indian market or a production hub supplying the region.
