A partnership between Volvo Trucks Australia and Foodbank ACT & NSW has been recognised with the Excellence in Social Impact award at the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce gala, celebrating a custom-built transport solution that is making a real difference across regional and disaster-affected communities.

At the core of the collaboration is a dual-temperature 22-pallet refrigerated trailer, hauled by a Volvo FH 13 540 Globetrotter XL. The combination was specifically designed to operate in harsh conditions with minimal infrastructure, allowing Foodbank to reach remote areas and respond faster during natural disasters.

“This truck and trailer combination has added to the organisation’s regional capability. They now have the ability to carry more, deliver more and cover more areas.”

Says Tom Chapman, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Volvo Trucks Australia.

The unit allows for bulk pickups of donated produce, improving logistics and reducing overall operating costs, a critical factor for not-for-profit organisations where transport expenses often limit outreach.

Volvo FH platform offers high payload capacity, safety technologies, and fuel-efficient performance, supporting Foodbank’s mission to deliver food relief where it’s needed most.

The award underscores how specialised heavy vehicles, when properly adapted, can serve vital roles beyond commercial logistics, delivering impact across social and humanitarian fronts.
