Volvo Construction Equipment has strengthened its partnership with Sin Hua Civil Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based civil engineering and construction contractor. The latest step is the delivery of new Volvo machines to support major earthworks at Changi Airport’s Terminal 5 development, including SD120 soil compactors, A40 articulated haulers and EC360 excavators.
Volvo’s machines are now deployed on earthmoving and base preparation for taxiway pavements and aircraft parking bays at the Changi T5 site, where roughly three million cubic metres of material is being excavated, transported and compacted.
The new SD120 soil compactors are being integrated into Sin Hua’s large roller fleet to maintain uniform compaction standards across the work areas. Volvo EC360 excavators are handling excavation and loading, feeding the newly delivered A40 articulated haulers to keep material moving efficiently. The latest A40s are also working alongside six A40 units added to the fleet in June 2025.
“We are proud to support Sin Hua Civil Engineering & Construction on one of Singapore’s most significant infrastructure projects. The New Generation A40, EC360, and SD120 are designed to deliver productivity, reliability, and operator comfort in demanding applications, and this project demonstrates how the right machine combination, backed by strong local support, can make a real difference on site.”
Said David Choo, Head of Market Singapore of Volvo Construction Equipment, commenting on the delivery.

For this Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore project, Sin Hua’s choice of Volvo CE equipment is driven by performance, reliability and long-term value. The SD120 is Sin Hua’s first deployment of Volvo’s SD-series soil compactor in Singapore. The contractor selected the A40 articulated hauler based on prior experience with the model’s layout and uptime, while the EC360 was brought in to evaluate Volvo’s latest-generation excavators against the project’s productivity and cost targets.
On-site, the machines’ specifications have translated into practical gains. The SD120’s compaction gauge gives operators a clearer, real-time indication of compaction results, helping to maintain uniform standards. Volvo’s EC360 uses an electro-hydraulic control system that supports smoother, more precise excavation and loading. For hauling, operators point to the A40’s cab comfort and 360-degree sightlines as key advantages, particularly during loading and dumping.
“These machines are essential tools that help Sin Hua grow to the next level. We see this as a long-term partnership and hope to continue working together with Volvo CE Singapore, especially in managing our machinery more efficiently as our business expands.”
Said Ivan Zhang, Director of Sin Hua Civil Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd.
According to Sin Hua, operator feedback has been broadly positive, with crews citing straightforward operation, stable controls and improved visibility. The clearer sightlines on the A40, in particular, have helped coordination between excavator and hauler teams by making payload and body positioning easier to judge during loading.
Looking ahead, Sin Hua has confirmed plans to purchase additional machines as project requirements grow, reinforcing its confidence in the brand.
