Two-Speed Axial Piston Motor for Tracked Drives
Danfoss Power Solutions expands global availability of the BMV Integrated Drive Motor, combining axial piston technology and a planetary gearbox for compact tracked machinery. www.danfoss.com Danfoss Power Solutions has announced the global availability of its BMV Integrated Drive Motor, a two-speed axial piston motor with an integrated planetary reduction gearbox. Designed for dual-path tracked machinery such as compact track loaders (CTLs), the unit combines high torque output, controlled startup characteristics and a compact installation footprint. Integrated Design for Controlled Startup and High Torque The BMV motor integrates a high-efficiency axial piston rotating group with an optimized planetary reduction gearbox. This configuration delivers high torque at low speeds while maintaining precise power transmission. Unlike certain drive motors that can exhibit abrupt acceleration depending on pump swashplate angle at startup, the BMV provides smooth rotation regardless of initial displacement setting. The controlled startup behavior supports predictable drivability and reduces stress on drivetrain components. An integrated high-torque multiplate parking brake is incorporated within the assembly. The brake torque exceeds the motor’s maximum output torque, ensuring that the machine remains stationary when parked, even under load. Compact Installation and Weight Reduction The integrated motor-gearbox architecture reduces overall package size compared with separate motor and reduction gear assemblies. Concave areas on the drive mounting flange provide direct access to motor fasteners, enabling installation and service from the exterior of the machine. The design simplifies gear oil changes and removal procedures, reducing maintenance time in field conditions. Weight optimization contributes to machine-level efficiency: the 28/32 cc frame size is up to 14% lighter than comparable motors in its class, while the 41/51 cc version is up to 13% lighter. Lower drive motor weight can contribute to reduced overall machine mass, improving fuel efficiency and transportability in compact tracked equipment. Durability for High Duty Cycles The BMV Integrated Drive Motor is engineered for high duty cycle applications typical of compact track loaders and similar crawler-type vehicles. It incorporates Danfoss rotating kits and optimized internal geometries to support durability under repetitive load cycles. A duo-cone mechanical seal is used to prevent dirt ingress, minimizing contamination risk in harsh construction and agricultural environments. The motor has been deployed in Japan, South Korea and China for more than ten years, with ongoing optimization based on operational feedback. Configurations and Application Scope The BMV motor is available in two frame sizes with four displacement options: 28 cc, 32 cc, 41 cc and 51 cc. Both imperial and metric port configurations are offered. Optional features include a loop flushing valve and a PLUS+1-compliant speed sensor for integration with electronic control systems. Primary applications include compact track loaders, crawler carriers and forwarders, crawler tractors and crawler mowers. By combining axial piston efficiency with an integrated planetary gearbox, the BMV platform provides OEMs with a compact track drive solution tailored for durability, serviceability and predictable machine performance. www.danfoss.com Powered by Induportals Media Publishing

Integrated Design for Controlled Startup and High Torque
The BMV motor integrates a high-efficiency axial piston rotating group with an optimized planetary reduction gearbox.
Compact Installation and Weight Reduction
The integrated motor-gearbox architecture reduces overall package size compared with separate motor and reduction gear assemblies. Concave areas on the drive mounting flange provide direct access to motor fasteners, enabling installation and service from the exterior of the machine.
