Ten years after founding Palfinger Ibérica, the lifting specialist has opened a 22,000 m² hub in Madrid that brings sales, service, mounting and spare parts together

For a maker of truck-mounted lifting equipment, the factory is only half the job. The other half happens in the mounting shop, where cranes and bodies meet the customer’s truck, and in the service bay that keeps them working afterwards. In Spain and Portugal, Palfinger has now put both under one roof.

The Austrian company has officially opened its new Sales & Service Hub in Madrid, an investment of around EUR 20 million. The facility covers 22,000 square metres and gathers sales, service, mounting, logistics and spare parts operations at a single site. The opening also marks the tenth anniversary of Palfinger Ibérica.

More capacity, shorter lines

The most concrete number is capacity. The hub raises the number of mounting lines from 10 to 16, which should mean higher output and more flexibility when demand peaks. Bringing all functions to one location also shortens coordination between teams and gives customers direct access to commercial, technical and service know-how.

“The integrated setup at the Madrid hub brings key functions together and expands our mounting capacity, supporting collaboration across teams and enabling more efficient processes,” said Jörg Schopferer, Managing Director of Palfinger Ibérica.

The building also includes renewable energy systems, energy-efficient windows, intelligent lighting and automated climate control to reduce its energy use.

Why Iberia

Palfinger describes Spain and Portugal as strategically important markets within its EMEA region. “We strongly believe in the long-term potential of Spain and Portugal,” said CEO Andreas Klauser. “The new Sales & Service Hub in Madrid is much more than a new facility. It reflects our commitment to growing together with our customers, strengthening our local presence and creating the foundation for the next decade of success throughout the Iberian market.”

For dealers, bodybuilders and fleet customers in the region, the practical effect should be shorter lead times on mounted equipment and a single point of contact for parts and service.

Part of Strategy 2030+

The investment is tied to Palfinger’s Strategy 2030+, built on three directions: Lifting Customer Value, Balanced Profitable Growth and Execution Excellence. The Madrid hub is one of the first places where that strategy takes physical form, and it sets the base for Palfinger’s next decade on the Iberian peninsula.
