John Deere and Yamaha Motor Corporation are teaming up to develop select future side-by-side vehicles, aiming to address “a broader range of customer needs in the growing utility segment of the recreational off-highway vehicle market.”
The companies say the partnership will bring together Yamaha’s powertrain and vehicle design expertise with Deere’s vehicle development, U.S. manufacturing capabilities and customer insights.
Earlier this year, Yamaha announced it would discontinue in-house production of side-by-sides at its Newnan, Georgia, plant after the 2026 model year and transition to OEM supply through partner companies. Yamaha currently offers the YZX, Wolverine and Viking lines of UTVs.
John Deere manufactures its Gator utility vehicles in Horicon, Wisconsin, with additional utility vehicles produced in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.
Specific details about future products or commercial availability have not been announced. Through this collaboration, Deere and Yamaha Motor will retain their respective brands, dealer and sales channels, and customer relationships.
“John Deere and Yamaha share a commitment to quality, innovation and strong dealer networks,” said Jon Chase, vice president, John Deere Turf and Compact Utility Business Unit. “This collaboration will enable us to develop differentiated products that excite customers and create meaningful value.”
“We are excited about this relationship and the opportunities it creates for Yamaha, John Deere, our dealers and, most importantly, our customers,” said Dean Burnett, president, Yamaha Motorsports USA. “Together, two trusted global brands can accelerate innovation and bring greater value to the market.”
