Komatsu recently strengthened its position in the Canadian market with a significant investment to double the size of its parts center and transform the Edmonton, Alberta, depot into a full-service distribution center.
Covering approximately 135,000 square feet, the new facility will double the capacity of Komatsu’s existing warehouse in Edmonton. The expansion allows the company to stock and ship high-demand parts directly from the site, enabling 24-hour delivery to dealers across Western Canada and sharply reducing lead times.

“Our customers rely on Komatsu for uptime and productivity, and this investment ensures we can meet those expectations faster and more efficiently than ever. By bringing parts closer to where our customers operate, we’re cutting lead times, boosting availability and improving customer service.”
said Danny Murtagh, Vice President of Parts and Infrastructure.
The expanded Edmonton facility is set to become a fully integrated parts distribution hub, evolving from its previous role as a regional depot. Positioned as a key pillar in Komatsu’s North American logistics network, the upgraded centre will streamline parts flow from the company’s global manufacturing sites in Japan and Indonesia.
Among the core upgrades:
• Doubled warehouse capacity to handle fast-moving and strategic components
• Full integration with Komatsu’s global planning and warehouse management systems (WMS)
• Efficiency gains through modernised layouts, automation, and new handling equipment
• Workforce expansion, including additional staff and increased technological support
The new distribution centre will open at the beginning of 2026. The expansion highlights Komatsu’s strong commitment to the Canadian market and reinforces its long-term position in the region. With construction and mining activity on the rise, the upgraded facility ensures the company is well-equipped to meet growing demand while maintaining high service standards.
